Climate Action Initiative in Theatre

When TCG hosted their 2019 Conference in Miami, or (as some think of it) ground zero for the effects of climate change in the U.S., Devon worked with renowned multimedia and scholarly artist Xavier Cortada as the conference’s inaugural climate artist in residence and a nationwide group of artist-activists in creating a substantial presence for climate action work at that event and moving forward for TCG. In 2021, Devon produced two virtual Climate Action Summits, and that year she co-launched and co-hosted TCG’s Climate Action Monthly Meeting (CAMM) calls, which were held monthly until 2023. She programmed climate action case studies, workshops and speakers into various TCG convenings, both virtual and hybrid, and worked closely with organizations like Broadway Green Alliance and Groundwater Arts to amplify the important work already happening at the intersection of arts and climate action.

Climate Reality Project Leadership Corps Training

From August to September 2020, Devon joined a training program led by Climate Reality Project, the organization founded by former Vice President Al Gore. According to their website, “Climate Reality Leaders…attend a multi-day training where they attend sessions with Vice President Gore and a host of other field-leading experts, gaining the organizing and communications skills to mobilize their communities to act.” Reach out to speak to Devon about doing a Climate Reality “Truth in Ten” presentation for your professional, community, or school group. She is still involved with the organization as a member of the Hudson Valley NY Chapter of the Climate Reality Project activist community.
